Rest in Peace, Geetaji.

We send our deepest condolences to the Iyengar family at this difficult time.

It is with a shock and sadness to note the unexpected passing of Geeta Iyengar, two days after her father’s Centennial Birthday Celebration. She was the daughter of the renowned BKS Iyengar and an exceptional teacher in the field of yoga. She was the backbone of her family and the Ramamani Institute. She was fiery and compassionate, stern and loving. She was very generous to all students and she gave her utmost in helping students in need of extra care. She had eagle eyes that could seemingly “read” you from skin to soul. Geeta’s classes were superbly sequenced and laced with biting wit, humor and insight. Her teachings embraced you with passion and love. Her most noted contributions in the field of Yoga is her book, Yoga: A Gem for Woman which lays out a comprehensive practice for cycles of a women’s life.

We honor your Light, Geeta the most precious of gems. Rest In Peace.
